Abstract

The high traffic of motorized vehicles in the market area makes the level of air pollution from the combustion of motor vehicles will affect the quality of the air inhaled by the community. Air pollution from motor vehicles is CO, SO2 ̧ NO2, PM2,5, PM10, and TSP. Market workers in the market are one of the people at risk of health problems due to exposure to these air pollutants. The purpose of this study was to analyze the environmental health risks of exposure to air pollution the health of market workers in the 16 Ilir market of Palembang city. This type of research uses a type of descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The method used is Environmental Health Risk Analysis (ARKL). The sample of respondents was taken with the Purposive Sampling System and the Slovin Formula, which was obtained as many as 102 respondents. The air pollutant measurement method used in this study is Non Dispersive Infra Red (NDIR) to measure CO gas, pararosaniline method using a spectrophotometer to measure SO2 gas, Grass-Saltzman method using NO2 gas spectrophotometer, and Met One E-Sampler to measure PM2.5, PM10, and TSP. The results showed an average of 6 concentrations from 5 points of measurement locations, namely CO concentrations as big as 2685.1 μg/Nm3, NO2 as big as 2.7 μg/Nm3, SO2 as big as 1.5 μg/Nm3, PM2.5 as big as 22.4 μg/Nm3, PM10 as big as 198 μg/Nm3, and TSP as big as 383 μg/Nm3. The calculation of the value (RQ) of CO and PM10 air pollution concentrations obtained RQ >1 values while NO2 concentrations, SO2, PM2.5, and TSP obtained RQ values of ≤ 1. The conclusion in this study is that exposure to CO and PM10 gases has a risk to the health of market workers, so risk management and risk management strategies are needed.
