Abstract
The aim of this research is to evaluate the influence of mechanical injury to physiological quality of soy bean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.). This experiment was carried out in March until May 2008 at Seed Technology Laboratory and Field Experiment of Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. The experimental designed being used was completely randomized design (RAL) with four treatments and nine replications, the treatment consisted of mechanical injury of 75 %, 50 %, 25 % and control. The variables being observed included number of germination, germination rates, germination uniformity, dry weight and field emergence. The results showed that mechanical injury have no signiflcant effect to number of germination. Mechanical injury gave significant effect to germination rates, germination uniformity, dry weight and field emergence, so the result could summarize that 75 % of mechanical injury showed good effect to number of germination, germination rates, and germination uniformity, but since the dry weight which vigor of seeds lower than each variables and it could not be used as conclusion of good seeds quality.
