Abstract

White vaginal discharge is one of the reproductive health problems that commonly experienced by adolescent girls. Poor behavior of genital hygiene (Perineal Hygiene) can lead to white vaginal discharge in adolescent girls. The aim of this study was to analyze perineal hygiene behavior associated to white vaginal discharge occurrence (Flour Albus) among high school girls in Raudhatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School Indralaya. This study was quantitative research and used cross sectional study design, with 124 sample of class X and XI high school girls. Sampling technique was used multistage sampling. Data was collected through interview using questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using chi square test. Results showed that 33.1% of adolescent girls had poor perineal hygiene behavior. Adolescent girls who suffered white vaginal discharge were 58.1%. Meanwhile, adolescent girls who had poor perineal hygiene as well as suffered white vaginal discharge were 36.6%. 58.1% adolescent girl with white vaginal discharge exposed to poor water sanitation. The test result obtained pvalue 0.001. Conclusion, There was significant association of perineal hygiene behavior and white vaginal discharge among high school girls in Raudhatul Ulum Islamic Boarding School Indralaya. There was no significant association between water sanitation and white vaginal discharge. The recomandation of this research that the management of institution should conduct poskestren, conduct reproductive health counseling and Quality Control of clean water resources.
