Abstract
The objective of this research was to study the using of exhaust fan on drying equipment of kemplang by using blub as a source of heat. This reseach was conducted at Laboratory of Farm Machinery, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, from September 2012 to July 2013. Drying with forced convection method using the air flow naturally from the environment for the flow of hot air from the space heater to the drying chamber. Drying condensation method was used to shut off the flow of air from the environment that aims to minimize the impact by using the air in the outlet channel which serves to condense the water vapor in the drying chamber. The result showed that 8 hour drying process evaporated water as much as 38 % of material and produced 11,36 g of dried material weight. To achieve the 9% water content by the method of forced convection drying process takes as long as 4 hours 24 minutes. The energy needed to achieve a moisture content of 9% by the method of forced convection was 3.36 KWh.
