Abstract
The research objectives was to identified the effects of viability and pollen doses on viability of palm oil seed. Research was conducted at Seed Processing Unit of PT. Binasawit Makmur (BSM), Sampoema Agro, Palembang, South Sumatera. (from May to August 2007). The research used Randomised Complete Factorial Design with two factors and three replications. Each treatment unit used of Polyethilen plastic bag which contained 360 seeds. The first factor was pollen viability consisted of four levels, namely of 50-60% (VI), 61-70% (V2), 71-80% (V3), and 81-90% (V4). The second factor was pollen doses which consisted of four levels, 0.05 g (DI); 0.01 g (D2); 0.15g (D3) ; and 0.2 g (D4) per anthesising / inflorcsccncc. The result of this research indicated that the single factor and interaetion the pollen viability and pollen doses didn’t have significantly influence to viability of palm oil seed.
