Abstract
The objective of the study was to know the best salinity decreasing pattem for post larvae pecentage and survival rate of giant freshwater prawn. The research has been done on 9* October until 6^ November 2006 in Jambi Freshwater Aquaculture Development Centre. The current experiment examined five pattems of salinity decrease coded as S0 (control), SI, S2, S3 and S4 and three replications. Parameters observed were survival rate, post larvae percentage, growth, daily growth rate, morphological development of giant freshwater prawn and water quality. The result showed that salinity decreasing pattem influenced post larvae pecentage and survival rate significantly. The best salinity decreasing pattem was I S4. Survival rates were 32,67 %, 15,5 %, 20,33 %, 34,5 % and 51, 5 % respectively for S0, SI, S2, S3 and S4. Post larvae percentage for each treatment were (S0) 29,5 %, (Sl)13 %, (S2) 16,83 %, (S3) 33,83 % and (S4) 48,33 %. Total lenghts of giant freshwater prawn in each treatment were (S0) 10,18 mm, (SI) 9,65 mm, (S2)10,ll mm, (S3) 9,99 mm dan (S4) 10, 91 mm. The water quality ranged from 29-30,5°C for temperature, 7,83-8,95 for pH, 5,0-7,7 mg/1 for dissolved oxygen, 0,03-0,32 mg/1 for ammonia and 0,009-0,98 mg/1 for nitrit.
