Abstract

The aim of this research is to know piper leaf effect against symptomps disease gouramy larvae caused by A. hydrophylla bacteria. This research was conducted in May-April 2007 in Fishery Laboratory of Aquaculture and Technology of Aquaculture Program, Agriculture Faculty. Bacteria culture is conducted in Microbiology Laboratory, Biology Major, Mathematic and Science Faculty, Universityof Sriwijaya. This research is using Completely Randomized Block Design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Parameters observed during this research are survival rate of gouramy larvae after infected, survival rate of gouramy larvae after medicated, clinical symptoms, A. hydrophylla bacteria numbers and water quality. Results of this research is showed that piper leaf extract is most effective in reducing and stagnating A. hydrophylla bacteria growth in 0,20%, concentration with survival rate extention untill 80%. After medication bacteria number decrease untill 105 sel/ ml in 0,20% concentration. In exposure test bacteria at 1010 sel/ml. Result of water quality detection in all treatments are 25-28° C, pH 6, Dissolved oxygen 5-7 mg/1 and ammoiiiac 0,09-0,48 ppm.
