Abstract
One effort to utilize water hyacinth is to use it as animal feed through a chopping process. This research aims to determine the level of noise and vibration produced by a water hyacinth chopping machine using the working principle of a piston on a combustion engine. The research was carried out from October 2023 to December 2023. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Palembang. The method used in this research is a descriptive method by presenting data in the form of tabulations, graphs and graphs.The highest noise measurement results without materials were obtained at a speed of 470 rpm of 91.5 dB. Meanwhile, measurements with the material obtained at a speed of 470 rpm were 91.2 dB. The highest average noise value at the operator's position was obtained when measuring the material at a speed of 470 rpm of 91.4 dB. The highest average vibration value was obtained at the test feeder measurement point without material at a speed of 470 rpm of 25.6 m/s^2. Meanwhile, measurements with the material obtained at a speed of 470 rpm were 21.7 m/s^2.
