Abstract
As informal sector workers, kemplang cracker workers have many opportunities to be exposed to risk factors for occupational diseases, one of which is ergonomic risk factors. Workers bake kemplang with sitting and bending positions that are at risk for musculoskeletal complaints, one of which is low back pain. To improve the work posture, workers can use ergonomic chairs supported by appropriate workstations. This study aimed to determine the effect of the implementation of ergonomic chair on complaints of low back pain among kemplang grill workers in Meranjat II Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. This study used a pre-experimental study design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample in this study was 15 kemplang grill workers. The analysis was carried out in stages, from univariate analysis to bivariate analysis with 2 tests, namely Wilcoxon and Paired T-Test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of ergonomic chair implementation on Low Back Pain complaints in kemplang grill workers with 37.17% decrease in complaints and p-value = 0.001. For other musculoskeletal complaints, there was a 22.31% reduction in complaints between before and after ergonomic chair use with p-value = 0.001, which showed a significant effect on other musculoskeletal complaints. It can be concluded that an ergonomic chair can help reduce musculoskeletal complaints, especially low back pain. It is necessary to give dissemination to workers regarding the use of ergonomic chairs in order to further implement safe and comfortable work.
