Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop HOTS (high order thinking skills) questions that are valid, reliable, have differentiating power, and have a good level of difficulty. this research is based on Research Development (development research) using the oriondo and antonio development model which produces 8 essay questions that are valid, reliable, have differentiating power, and have a good level of difficulty. Based on expert validation with the person product moment formula and using content and construct validity all questions are valid. Furthermore, in the criterion validity tested on 40 students, the results of 8 valid items with an average of 0.494 are categorized as moderate, in the differentiating power test obtained at 0.264 which is sufficient, in the difficulty test obtained at 0.654 which is categorized as moderate, and in the reliability test obtained at 0.214 which is categorized as low.
