Abstract

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH FACULTY OF PUBLIC HEALTH SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY Thesis, January 2024 Neanatasia Br Tarigan ; Guided by Rahmatilla Razak S.KM., M.Epid The Relationship between Maternal Personal Hygiene and Cases of Stunting in Toddlers in Ogan Ilir Regency in 2023 Vii+ 50 pages, 9 tables, 2 picture, 4 attachments ABSTRAK Stunting is one of the nutritional problems experienced by toddlers globally, which is described as a form of growth and development failure that does not achieve optimal growth due to lack of nutrition or malnutrition for a long time. The lack of nutritional intake occurs from the baby in the womb until after birth, but stunting only appears after the baby is 2 years old. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal personal hygiene and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 0-59 months in the stunting locus of Ogan Ilir Regency. The research design used case control with subjects being children aged 0-59 months who were diagnosed with stunting in 9 stunting locus villages in Ogan Ilir Regency and controls were children aged 0-59 months who were not diagnosed with stunting. Sampling using purposive sampling technique as many as 201 respondents with a ratio of 1: 2 and mothers of children aged 0-59 months as research respondents. The results of bivariate analysis obtained (p-value = 0.000, OR = 3.119) indicate that there is a significant relationship between maternal personal hygiene and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Toddlers who are cared for by mothers with poor personal hygiene will be at risk of stunting 3.119 times greater than toddlers who are cared for by mothers with good personal hygiene.
