Abstract

This study aims to assess the opportunities for implementing soil and water conservation in SRI rice cultivation in organic lebak swamp rice fields. This research was conducted from July 2023 to September 2023 in the wetland of Pelabuhan Dalam Village, Pemulutan Sub-District, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. The method in this research is using literature study and direct observation in the field (action research) for methods in data collection and using Gap analysis and SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) for methods in analyzing data, processing data, and determining the right strategy in the application of SRI in wetland swamps. Based on the results of the SWOT analysis, the priority strategy is the Weakness - Opportunity (WO) strategy with a weighted value of 3.12. The Weakness - Opportunity (WO) strategies are: 1) The need for farmers who have knowledge, skills, and experience with the SRI method. This is an important factor, because there is still a lack of farmers who understand and understand the SRI method. There needs to be strategic efforts from the government such as training and mentoring to farmers to support the application of the organic SRI method; 2) Provide facilities and infrastructure that support the application of SRI. By doing so it can be an opportunity in the application of SRI, if this can be overcome, of course many farmers will switch to the SRI method; and 3) The potential in the application of SRI in the lebak swamp is very large. Strategic efforts are needed so that this potential can be utilized.
