Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between farmer’s social status and their adoption of technology for growing rice on swamps, to identify in hibiting factors in the technological adoption, and to reveal the farmer’s income as the result of the technological adoption. This study was conducted with farmer group Sepakat Jaya in Mariana Village, Banyuasin Regency at the end of July to the beginning September 2004. This study used a case study method. Samples were determined using cencus method, 20 farmer’s participated in this study. The data consited of primary data, which were collected through observation and interview with the farmer’s and agricultral fild tutors (PPL) using (questionaires), and secondary data which were collected from the monography and the work area of agricultural training (WKPP). The obtained data were analized using tabulation and Spearman Correlation. The results of data analysis show that the avarage score 1,95 was obtained for farmer’s social status, which means moderate and adoption of technology scored the average of 2,20 which was also classified as moderate. The income per land abtained by farmer’s was Rp 1.654.749,18 while avarage income per hectare was Rp 3.589.743,41. Based on the country the test of Spearman Corelation is having the Relation for Positive Corelation between farmer’s social status by soaking technology for rice growing on swamps, where is the higher farmer’s social status is more higher the soaking technology.
