Abstract

The airport was demanded to quickly and provide optimal service in supporting the flight process, it was not apart from Ground Handling. The type of Ground Handling that has the highest workload is the porter, where the task of a porter is loading and unloading passenger goods from the plane to the arrivals. Porter required a fit physical condition that can work optimally and avoid work fatigue. The purpose of this research was to analysis the determinant of fatigue risk at porter in Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport Palembang. This research used cross sectional design. The sample in this research was 75 porters in Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang Airport selected based on proportional sampling technique. Univariate analysis using frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using chi square test. Based on the result of bivariate analysis, it was known that there are two independent variables related to work fatigue, that was work period (p-value = 0,042) and smoking habit (p-value = 0,000), and there was no relation between age (p-value = 0,053) and nutritional status (p-value = 0,110) to work fatigue. The average temperature of the apron environment of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang Airport was 28,410C. Suggestion in this research were Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang Airport can rolling to other parts such as a cargo officer or work area movement to make up or break down, and the habit of smoking on porters can be done by further tightening regulations related to non-smoking areas throughout the area of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport Palembang.
