Abstract

This study aims to produce Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) instruments on science subjects in class V that are valid, pracrical and reliable. This research is a type of research development research with the subject of research are the fourth grade students SDN 5 Indralaya and SDN 25 Indralaya which amounted to 54 students. This research procedure follows the development of Borg & Gall model which consists of 10 stages. In this research only up to 7 stages are: (1) information collecting, (2) planning, (3) develop preliminary form of product, (4) preliminary field testing, (5) main product revision), (6) main field testing, (7) operational product revision. Data collection techniques validity of experts and questionnaires. From expert review results abotained average precentage of the assesment results from the validity of experts amounted to 98,08% (valid category). The limited test phase obtained the average results of student responses to the use of HOTS questions in science subject of class V subjects amounted to 88,4% that can be posted as practical. In the field test phase measured reliability of the items of 0,357 with the reliable category. Thus, based on the results of the research obtained the result that the instrument of HOTS questions has been classified as valid, practical and reliable so that it can be used as additional teaching materials of students in grade V of elementary school.
