Abstract

The emergence of various environmental problems has become a special concern for various parties including parties involved in economic activities. The green economy is the latest business strategy to increase profits while preserving the environment. Green credit is expected to be able to have a long-term impact in the field of sustainable development. This research aims to test and analyze the implementation of green banking on profitability. This research was conducted in Indonesian banking for the 2018-2022 period using a panel data model. The analysis technique used was panel data regression using the fixed effect model method. The sample in this research was 9 banks. The dependent variable used in this research is ROA and the independent variable POGC with control variables namely BOPO, CAR, NPL and LDR. Based on the research results, POGC has a positive and significant effect on profitability. BOPO has a negative and significant effect on profitability. CAR is positive and significant to profitability. NPL and LDR have a positive and insignificant effect on profitability. Therefore, it is hoped that banks in Indonesia will continue to maintain financial performance through the implementation of green credit so that they are able to provide more financial benefits and have a good long-term impact on environmental sustainability.
