Abstract

This study aims to find out and describe the forms of the existence of female characters in the novel 3 Srikandi by Silvarani according to the existentialist feminism study, and this study is also to find out the implications of the research results for learning Indonesian language and literature in Senior High School. The research method was qualitative descriptive. The data source used was the novel 3 Srikandi by Silvarani. Data analysis focused on 3 female characters in novel 3 Srikandi, namely Nurfitriyana Saiman, Kusuma Wardhani, and Lilis Handayani. The results of the study showed that 3 female characters in novel 3 Srikandi reached four transcendences proposed by Simone de Beauvoir, which are females can work, females are intellectuals, females teach socialist transformation of society, and females reject their otherness. This study can have implications for learning Language and Literature in Senior High School. Keywords: existence, feminism, existentialist feminism, Simone de Beauvoir
