Abstract

Fruit flies are pests in the cultivation of fruit and vegetable crops. As a result of the presence of fruit fly pests, it is very detrimental to agricultural production because it causes damage intensity up to 100% or crop failure. Artificial or chemical insecticides are a pest control used by the general public at this time which in the long term there are dangers caused. Therefore, it is necessary to develop natural ingredients derived from plants as insecticidal materials. Kecombrang (E. elatior) is one of the plants that is considered to have potential as a bioinsecticide. This study aims to determine the content of kecombrang flowers, determine the most optimal concentration to kill fruit flies and determine the LC50 value of kecombrang flower extract applied to fruit flies. This research designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and repetition carried out 4 times. Treatments include negative control, positive control, concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The results showed that the higher the concentration, the higher the mortality of fruit flies. The highest concentration in killing fruit flies is a concentration of 20% with a percentage of death reaching 95%. The LC50 value of kecombrang flower extract was 6.15%.
