Abstract
The purposed of this research to know the effect of compost composition of the empty fruit bunch as the mixed planting media conceming the growth ang the yield of stringbean {Phaseolus vulgaris L.). The research was done at Indralaya, May until Juli 2007. This research used Randomized Complate Block Design (RCBD) with four treatments contains of six groups, therefore there were 24 unit treatments. Each treatments of group contains of three stringbean, therefore there were 72 stringbean. The compost composition treatments were : K0 = 0% of the empty fruit bunch compost composition, K.1 = 25% of the empty fruit bunch compost composition, K2 = 50% of the empty fruit bunch compost composition and K3 = 75% of the empty fruit bunch compost composition. Parameters observed were : days to flower (days), plant height (cm), number of pod (pod), pod weight (g), root shoot ratio and harvested index (%). The analisist result showed if the compost composition of the empty fruit bunch were no significant conceming the plant height, root shoot ratio and harvested index (%). The empty fruit bunch compost composition gave an effect days to flower, number of pod per plant and pod weight per plant. The 75 % compost treatment was the best treatment for the growth and the yield of stingbean.
