Abstract

The objective of this research was intended to know the right consentration to mutate the Mother-in-law’s Tongue {Sansevieria trifasciata Prain) ’Sarang Burung’ cultivar. !I This research was conducted from September through December 2007, in the nursery Faculty of Agriculture Sriwijaya University at Indralaya. The method of this research was Randomized Block Design with six treatments and four replications. The treatments were Co (without Colchicine), Ci (Colchicine 0,1 %), C2 (Colchicine 0,2 %), C3 (Colchicine 0,3 %), C4 (Colchicine 0,4 %) dan C5 (Colchicine 0,5 %). Each treatment are consist of three plants, and total plants used were 72 plants. The result showed that the treatment soaking of Mother-in-law’s Tongue into Colchicine solution were not significantly affective to bud initiation, bud lenght and number of leaves, but significant to bud number. The soaking treatment of Colchicine 0,3 % resulted in the altemation of the DNA band, but it is not followed the changes of morph and colour.
