Abstract

Abstrak In the modern era, the automotive sector is experiencing very rapid progress, especially in the two-wheeled automotive sector, where market demand for two-wheeled vehicles is increasing and demand for fossil fuels is also increasing. The effect of using fossil fuels will be increased air pollution produced by vehicles in the form of CO, HC and CO2 from the combustion of two-wheeled vehicles. The use of fossil fuels can be reduced by using renewable fuel, namely ethanol (C2H5OH). Ethanol is a volatile, flammable liquid and also has no color. Ethanol has an RON of 108.6 and an octane number of 115 for 99% ethanol content. Apart from that, the HHO or oxhyhydrogen gas generator functions to improve the incomplete combustion process in the combustion chamber so that fuel consumption can be reduced by as much as 25%. Testing in this research used experimental methods and data collection used a gas analyzer. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of adding HHO gas and a mixture of Pertamax+ethanol fuel as well as variations in engine speed on exhaust emissions. The results of this research show that the fuel mixture can influence the emissions produced by vehicles. So the fuel mixture Pertamax+ethanol+HHO gas can improve the quality of exhaust emissions from motor vehicles and can also improve environmental air quality.
