Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is pain felt in the lower back, this pain is left between the angle of the lower ribs to the lower buttocks, namely the lumbal or lumbosacral region and is often accompanied by pain transmission towards the legs and feet. This study aims to analyze the relationship between work position and low back pain complaints in brick making workers in Muara Tiga, Anak Petai Village, Prabumulih City. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional study that was analytical observational in nature with a sample size of 59 respondents. Data analysis was carried out in stages, namely univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using chi square test. The results showed a relationship between work position and low back pain complaints (p-value<0,0001), gender (p-value=0,033) and exercise habits (p-value=0,0001), and there was no relationship between age (p-value=0,598), work period (p-value=0,325) and length of work (p- value=1,000). It is concluded that there is a significant relationship between work position, gender and exercise habits with low back pain complaints in brick making workers. Suggestions from this study are that workers stretch their muscles and the government or related agencies conduct counseling to brick making workers about ergonomic work positions as an effort to minimize the occurrence of low back pain.
