Abstract

THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS RESEARCH ARE (1).TO ANALYZE HOW HIGH THE DEMAND FOR BROILER CHICKEN MEAT IS IN SOUTH SUMATRA IN THE PERIOD 1993-2022, (2).TO ANALYZE WHAT FACTORS INFLUENCE THE DEMAND FOR BROILER CHICKEN MEAT IN SOUTH SUMATRA, (3).TO ANALYZE HOW BIG THE ELASTICITY OF DEMAND FOR BROILER CHICKEN MEAT IS IN SOUTH SUMATRA. THE RESULTS OF THE RESEARCH THAT HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT SHOW THAT THE DEMAND FOR BROILER CHICKEN MEAT IN SOUTH SUMATRA OVER THE LAST 30 YEARS HAS EXPERIENCED FLUCTUATING CONDITIONS, A SIGNIFICANT DECLINE OCCURRED IN 2008, WHILE IN 2019 THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE. THE FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE DEMAND FOR BROILER CHICKEN MEAT IN SOUTH SUMATRA ARE THE PER CAPITA INCOME VARIABLE WITH A T-PROBABILITY VALUE OF 0.032 ≤0.05, WHILE OTHER VARIABLES SUCH AS THE PRICE OF BROILER CHICKEN MEAT, THE PRICE OF PUREBRED CHICKEN EGGS AND POPULATION DO NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT EFFECT BECAUSE THE VALUE T-PROBABILITY ≥Α. THE ELASTICITY OF DEMAND FOR BROILER CHICKEN MEAT IN SOUTH SUMATRA IS -0.00074. THE ELASTICITY VALUE IS NEGATIVE, MEANING THAT IF BROILER CHICKEN MEAT INCREASES BY 1%, THE DEMAND FOR BROILER CHICKEN MEAT WILL DECREASE BY 0.00074% AND VICE VERSA. THE ELASTICITY COEFFICIENT VALUE IS ABSOLUTE, SO THE ELASTICITY COEFFICIENT OF DEMAND FOR BROILER CHICKENS IS 0.00074, THIS VALUE IS INCLUDED IN THE INELASTIC DEMAND TYPE BECAUSE IT IS AT A LEVEL SMALLER THAN 1 (0<0.00074-1).
