Abstract

Prediction of carbon sequestion at PT Waimusi Agroindah It is very necessary to estimate the biomass contained in oil palm plants with a planting age of 12 years. In general, the estimation is carried out on oil palm plants grown on peatlands. This research was carried out on oil palm plants in the peatlands of PT Waimusi Agroindah which is located in the XII Kebun Sebung afdelling location, East Pedamaran District, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Estimation of carbon sequiestion using the Non-Destruction Method (Without Destruction) using diameter measurements, namely W= 0.1208 D1,98 and Estimation of Plant Carbon sequiestion. Measurements are made by measuring the diameter of the stem using a modified tool for stem diameter. Samples were taken in 3 different plots and with different areas but still within the same plant age, samples were taken at 18 points in each sample plot with a total of 54 samples obtained. For oil palm plants, each plot with an age of 12 years has a diameter that is not too different. The results of the research show that the oil palm plant which has the highest total plant biomass value is in plot 1 with a trunk diameter of 80 cm of 708,24 kg/tree and a carbon sequiestion of 215,21 tons/ha, in plots 2 and 3 it has the same carbon sequiestion of 204,69 tons/ha. Meanwhile, the highest CO2 absorption value was obtained by plot 2, which resulted in a total CO2 absorption of 155,27 tons/ha. The high carbon sequiestion of oil palm plants is influenced by plant biomass, the higher the plant biomass, the higher the carbon absorbed by the plant. Key words: Carbon, Oil Palm, Peatlands
