Abstract

Total Suspended Solid has an important function to determining the enviromental quality of waters. High concentration of Total Suspended Solid (TSS) can increase turbidity that obstructive penetration light to water column. This research aims to analyze the distribution of Total Suspended Solid and analyze the quality of Pahawang Island waters based on TSS values and physico-chemical parameters. This research was carried out in June 2023. Sampling was carried out at 13 stations using the purposive sampling method. TSS measurements used gravimetric methods calculations and data analysis usisng Microsoft Excel. The result found TSS concentrations with the lowest value of 25,33 mg/L at station 6 and highest value of 46,67 mg/L at station 1. The High TSS value at station 1 is thought to occur because there are several community activities such as the location of fish ponds and construction of villas that affect the TSS value of waters. Based on Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2021 concerning seawater quality standards, the TSS value and chemical physics parameters in Pahawang Island Waters are still suitable for biota life (class 1)
