Abstract

The purpose of this research were to (1) to analyze the condition of internal factors and the eksternal factors that is in development of small industry kemplang cracker in Seberang Ulu 1 Sub-District Palembang City (2) to alternative strategy that can be applied in small industry kemplang cracker in Seberang Ulu 1 Sub-District Palembang City (3) to determine the priority of strategy that can be applied in small industry kemplang cracker in Seberang Ulu 1 Sub-District Palembang City. This research was conducted in Seberang Ulu 1 Sub-District Palembang City. The method used in this study is a survey and direct interviews. The samples are taken as many as 30. Data collected in the study are primary data and secondary data. The data obtained from the field tabulation processed and analyzed descriptively. The result of this study indicated that the condition factor internal in the development of small industries in Sub-district Seberang Ulu 1 Sub-district are measured by 4 aspects: human resources, production, finance, and marketing are in a total score of 31,17 with high criteria. External factors are measured by 4 aspects: government policy, economic condition, social, culture & environment and level of competition is at total score 32,27 with high criteria. Based on SWOT analysis consisting of SO strategy, ST Strategy, WO Strategy and WT Strategy, some strategies should be applied to develop kemplang cracker industry in Seberang Ulu Sub-district 1. The strategy includes: building kemplang cracker industry, increasing the role and support of local government , enhance cooperation to maintain continuity of raw material availability, create regulation related to small industry development, improve coaching and training, forming small industry groups such as cooperatives and clusters, improve the quality of product packaging and product promotion by training, develop appropriate technology for production efficiency. Priority of strategy that can be applied in developing kemplang cracker industry in Seberang Ulu 1 Sub-district is to improve the quality of product packaging and product promotion by training.
