Abstract
The study of catalyst for hydrocracking Nyamplung oil into biofuel was researched. Co-Ni-Cu/Mesoporous HZSM-5 catalyst was synthesized using wet impregnation method and sonication device with 5% metal loading and metal (Co-Ni-Cu) ratio variation of 1:1:1 and 1:2:1. The catalysts were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Brunauer Emmet Teller (BET), and Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dipersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX). Hydrocracking was conducted in a batch reactor with a volume of Nyamplung oil of 15 mL and a catalyst mass of 0.5 grams. The operating conditions of the hydrocracking reaction with temperature variations (250oC; 300oC; and 350oC), pressure of 20 barr, and reaction time for 2 hours. The hydrocracking products were analyzed using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrophotometer (GC-MS). Biofuel from Nyamplung oil using Co-Ni-Cu/Mesopori HZSM-5 catalyst 5% metal ratio 1:1:1 in the reaction with 350oC temperature obtained the largest conversion of 72.1%, and contains n-paraffin compounds with % area 26.72%, cycloparaffin 3.34%, olefins 0.33%, aromatic compounds 15.83% and polycyclic aromatics 12.56%. The yield of biogasoline produced was 50.32%, biokerosene 36.49% and biogasoil 13.18%. The selectivity of biogasoline, biokerosene and biogasoil was found to be 41.02%, 29.74% and 10.74%, respectively.
