Abstract

AIR HUMIDITY IS ONE OF THE CRUCIAL INDICATORS FOR PLANT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT. IF THE HUMIDITY LEVELS RECEIVED BY THE PLANTS DO NOT MEET THEIR REQUIREMENTS, IT WILL HINDER THEIR GROWTH AND RESULT INT THE ROTTING OF ROOTS AND STEMS. ONE OF THE PLANTS THAT REQUIRE SPECIFIC AIR HUMIDITY IS THE CYMBIDIUM ORCHID. CYMBIDIUM ORCHIDS REQUIRE AIR HUMIDITY BETWEEN 60% TO 80%. HOWEVER, THERE IS AN ISSUE IN MEETING THE AIR HUMIDITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CYMBIDIUM ORCHIDS,AS THEIR CARE IS STILL MANUALLY PERFORMED, REQUIRING HUMAN LABOR AND TIME. THEREFOR, TO ALLEVIATE THIS ISSUE, AN AUTOMATED AIR HUMIDITY SYSTEM IS NEEDED, WHICH CAN BE REMOTELY MONITORED TO ENSURE THE CONSISTENT FULFILLMENT OF CYMBIDIUM ORCHIDS’ AIR HUMIDITY NEEDS. HENCE, THIS RESEARCH FOCUSES ON DESIGNING AN AIR HUMIDITY AUTOMATION SYSTEM USING THE NODEMCU ESP32 MICROCONTROLLER AS THE BRAIN, RUNNING THE AUTOMATION SYSTEM BASED ON PRE-EMBEDDED PROGRAMS AND DESIGNED THROUGH ARDUINO IDE SOFTWARE. IT UTILIZES THE BME280 SENSORAS THE AIR HUMIDITY DETECTOR AND A MIST MAKER AN ACTUATOR WIT A COLD MIST OUTPUT, MOISTURIZING THE AIR IN THE CYMBIDIUM ORCHID GROWING SPACE TO MEET THEIR HUMIDITY REQUIREMENTS. THIS AUTOMATION SYSTEM IS IOT-BASED, MONITORED REMOTELY VIA SMARTPHONE USING THE BLYNK IOT APPLICATION. THE RESEARCH SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPED THE BME280 SENSOR APPLICATION FOR THE DESIGN OF AIR HUMIDITY AUTOMATION, ACHIEVING AN AVERAGE PRECISION OF 98,91%, ACCURACY OF 98,98%, AND ERROR RATE OF 0,076%.
