Abstract
Communication skills are the abilities that students must have to transform ideas and thoughts in the form of images, graphs or mathematical symbols. This research is a qualitative descriptive study which aims to examine the communication skills of class VIII students in problem-based learning using AKM Numeracy questions. The instruments used in this research are teaching modules, LKPD and interview guides. Students' communication skills are assessed from indicators of communication skills, namely written text, drawings and mathematical expressions. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the communication skills of class VIII students at SMPN 53 Palembang were still relatively low with the percentage of written text results being 48.93%, the percentage of drawing being 62.89%, and the percentage of mathematical expression being 48.61%.
