Abstract

Water spinach (Ipomoea reptans Poir.) vegetables that many people like because of their high nutritional content. Increasing water spinach production can be done by using land with minimal light intensity due to shade such as among annual plants, yards in urban areas. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of various levels of shade on the growth and yield of water spinach plants of Bangkok lp-1 and Bika varieties. The research was carried out in an experimental field using artificial shade in June - July 2023. This study used split plot design, the shade level as the main plot consists of 0% (no shade), 55%, 70% and 95%. Varieties as subplots consist of the Bangkok variety lp-1 and the Bika variety. Research results with decreasing the intensity of sunlight will reduce plant growth. At 50% shade will significantly reduce the growth and yield of kale, the more the shade level will further suppress the growth of kale. The Bangkok lp-1 variety and the Bika variety have no difference in growth or yield.
