Abstract
Diabetes mellitus which has quite high numbers means DM is often treated with chemical drugs. For this reason, traditional treatment is required, including the use of insulin leaves (Thitonia diversifolia (Hemsley) A. Grey), which contain bioactivity suitable for the treatment of DM. This research aims to determine the content of compounds that act as antidiabetic agents, the dominant compounds and the abundance of metabolite compounds in insulin leaves through metabolite profiling using a non-target metabolomics approach using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) Instruments and antidiabetic exploration of metabolites contained in insulin leaves. Based on GC-MS analysis, there were 30 peaks in the chromatogram, of which 7 were dominant compounds, including 1- butanol, 3-methyl acetate (28.11%) , Thunbergol (14.28%), Geranly acetate (12.13%). ), D-Limonene (6.64%), 4H-Pyran-4-one, 2,3-Dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6 -methyl (5.05%), acetic acid (4, 10%), 7,8 -epoxy-α-ionone (2.91%), which has antidiabetic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial, anticancer and antitumor effects. The results of analyzing the antioxidant levels of insulin leaves with standard ascorbic acid and quercetin revealed total antioxidant levels of 2,486 ppm and 5,340 ppm, respectively. The results of the antidiabetic exploration carried out showed that the compounds 4H-pyran-4-one, 2,3-dihydro- 3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl and urea were specific compounds that acted as antidiabetic agents, while other studies showed this there were several metabolite compounds from the leaves. Insulin can be used for the therapy and treatment of DM due to its role as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent.
