Abstract

Administration of the Public Relations and Protocol Bereau of the Provincial Secretariat South Sumatra has problems in archive management including strorage and arrangement of archives, and a lack of facilities and infrastructure. This research aims at how to manage incoming and outgoing letters in the Administrasi section of the Public Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of South Sumatra Province. This research uses theory from Read and Ginn (2010). The method used is qualitative with interview, observation and documentation data collection techniques. The findings of this research show that archive management in the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of South Sumatra Province in the management aspect is quite good. However, what is lacking in archive management are aspects of creation, use, maintenance and determining their final fate. Therefore, archive management is not easy to find, maintain and protect. This research recommends to the Aministrative Bureu of Public Relations and Protocol of the Regional Secretariat of South Sumatra Province to add facilities and infrastructure, provide training to archive management employees, in addition to the need to implement electronic archive management.
