Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the growth and production of string bean that planted as intercropping system at gambir plants. The research was conducted at experimental farm of Agricultural Faculty of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir from February to June 2007. The research was set by Randomized Block Design that consists of four treatments and four replications, so there were 16 units of treatment. The treatments were Ko (monoculture), Ki (polyculture of string bean and gambir from seedling), K2 (polyculture of string bean and gambir from stump), K3 (polyculture of string bean and gambir with pangkas meja’s system). The result showed that string bean is suitable for intercropping at gambir which cultivated by stump. However, gambir cultivated from seedling is better than other treatments.
