Abstract

The recapitulation of civil servant absenteeism at the Sematang Borang District Office for the 2020-2021 period shows an increase in employee absenteeism and tardiness in 2021, indicating a decrease in discipline regarding working hours. The results of the 2021 Government Agency Performance Report also reflect a decline in performance indicators, indicating the need for focused research on the application of civil servant work discipline. This research aims to understand and describe how the application of civil servant work discipline can improve performance at the Sematang Borang District Office, Palembang City. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach, providing an in-depth picture of the application of employee work discipline at the Sematang Borang District Office. Primary data was obtained through interviews with related informants, while secondary data came from literature and research documents. Data collection techniques involve observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involves data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and verification. The research results show that the application of preventive discipline to civil servants at the Sematang Borang District Office involves evaluating absenteeism and giving verbal sanctions. Even though working hour regulations have been implemented according to government guidelines, these sanctions have not had a significant impact on employee discipline. Violations related to discipline, rules and regulations are also detected, with sanctions in the form of a warning. On the other hand, employee responsibilities in using office facilities show a lack of optimization, as can be seen from the decline in BMD inventory conditions in 2022. Further action is needed to increase the effectiveness of implementing work discipline and support improved performance within the Sematang Borang District Office environment. keywords: Employee Work Discipline, District Office Performance, Evaluation of Civil Servant Absence
