Abstract

Background: In Indonesia the scope of exclusive breastfeeding in infants 0-6 months of 2014 which reached 52.3% in the current era of breastfeeding to infants is often replaced with the formula. Ogan Ilir region have data coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is low when compared with other districts. In the coverage area of Puskesmas Tanjung Raja, the application of exclusive breastfeeding is still relatively low which formula to substitute for the breast feeding. The higher the economic level, it will be increasingly able to buy formula that is expected to qualify AFASS and perform dilution with the right way.AFASS an abbreviation of Acceptable (formula acceptable to the baby), Feasible (mother and family have enough time, knowledge, and the ability to prepare formula), Affordable (mother and family have a cost of production, preparation and use of infant formula), Sustainable (formula feeding for 6 months can be met) and Safe (giving the correct formula and hygienic) this .Penelitian aims to evaluate the application of the principle permberian AFASS in infant formula under the age of two years in Puskesmas Tanjung Raja Ogan Ilir. Method : This study used a qualitative approach. The sample selection technique is purposive sampling. Where the number of informants is 8 informants that mothers with children aged under 24months and were given formula milk consumption. Data analysis using matrix techniques and coding of each variable. Result : The variable acceptable, 6 samples of mothers said their children had ever experienced indigestion due to milk formula. Different treatment of action being taken to a doctor, midwife or given medicine from the pharmacy. In addition, the variable acceptable, consumption amount and frequency of drinking formula milk everyday vary each sample. For variable feasible, there is one sample of mothers who do not follow the advice presentation indicated on the packaging of infant formula and there was one sample that did not apply the habit of washing their hands before serving milk formula. For affordable variable, associated expenses for a different formula of each sample of the mother. Similarly, for the presentation of different formulas each sample. On sustainable variables, one sample of mothers never give beverages other than milk formula and interviews indicating that each sample of mothers give different answers about the age limit consuming milk formula. For variable safe, there are still three samples were still buying formula even when buying the formula's packaging has been damaged / dented by the record has not passed the expiration date indicated. Conclusion : The conclusion is both of Acceptable, Feasible, Affordable, Sustainable and Safe aspects is still need for improvements related to the consumption of infant formula. So it will need more intense socialization to improve the knowledge of the mother both in the choice of the right formula, the right way of presentation, hygine and sanitation during the process of cleaning tool (bottle of milk) and others).
