Abstract

Backgrounds : Nowadays, Adolescent health problems are less serious attention. The adolescent nutritional status in general is influenced by food consumption patterns that result in low levels of nutrient intake. This is caused by the limitations of their own food or restrict their food, because they tend to have slim body. The study aimed to compare the food consumption, nutritional status and knowledge of reproduction health among adolescent girls in senior high school and Islamic boarding school. Materials and Methods : Cross sectional study was undertaken in this research. Subjects of this study were 60 students of senior high school and Islamic boarding school, Bangkinang. Results and Discussion : The result showed the parents education background at senior high school was higher than at Islamic boarding school. There was not significantly different in economy level (family's income per capita and pocket money) between adolesence both schools (p>0.05). Food consumption and nutritional knowledge at Islamic boarding school was better than student at senior high school however p value indicated that no significant result for this association (p>0.05).Body Mass Indeks (BMI) in generally was normal(73.3 % at senior high school and 80 % at Islamic boarding school) and prevalence of anemia was high, with over 70 % anemic condition ( 100 % at senior high school and 73.3 % at Islamic boarding school ). Moreover, There were significantly different between iron status student at senior high school and Islamic boarding school (p<0.05). Reproduction knowledge at senior high school was better than subject at Islamic boarding school. Reproduction knowledge has positive significant effect on father?s education background (P<0.01) and family's income per capita (P<0.05). Measurement of perception on reproduction health showed that almost of adolescent girls was not ready on mental due to reproduction health. BMI significant effect on perception on reproduction health (P<0.05). Conclusions : Food Consumption, Nutritional Status and Knowledge of Reproductive Health Adolescent Girls at Islamic boarding school was better than adolescent girls at Senior High School.Adolescent girls at Islamic boarding school more ready in reproduction than adolescent at senior high school. keywords : Food consumption, nutritional status, knowledge of reproductive health , adolescent girls
