Abstract
The purpose of research was to know the effect of compost cariba weed on the growth of pepper cuttings with different dosages. The research has been conducted in the shadow house of Department Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya of University. This study starts from March to September 2012. The research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with eight treatments and four replications in order to obtain 32 units of treatment. The first treatment (K0) without giving compost, a second treatment (Kl) compost a dosage of 100 grams per polybeg, the third treatment (K2) compost with a dosage of 200 grams per polybeg, the fourth treatment (K3) compost a dosage of 300 grams per polybeg, the fifth treatment (K4) compost a dosage of 400 grams per polybeg, sixth treatment (K5) compost with a dosage of 500 grams per polybeg, seventh treatment (K6) compost a dosage of 600 grams per polybeg, eighth treatment (K7) compost a dosage of 700 grams per polybeg. The results of the research showed that treatment dosages of compost give real effect to the length of shoots, number of leaves, root dry weight and leaf dry weight. But it does not significantly affect the variable root length, leaf chlorophyll, and the ratio of the percentage of seedlings grown root crown. The combination dosage of compost weeds kariba 300 grams per plant gives the best effect on the growth of pepper cuttings in the nursery.
