Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth of rice seedling of Ciherang variety at nursery stage. The research was conducted ffom February 2012 up to April 2012 in the greenhouse of Agronomy Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This research used a complete randomized design (RAL) with seven treatments and four replications. The treatments included (Po) without fertilization, (Pi) compost 15 % , (P2) compost 20 % , (P3) chicken manure 15 % , (P4) chicken manure 20 % , (P5) N, P and K : 15 % , (P$) N, P and K : 20 %. Soil sample was obtained from Tanjung Putus, Indralaya. The results of this research showed that fertilizer treatments gave significant effect on plant height, root length, root dry weight, canopy dry weight but there was no significant effect on leaf area and uniformity of growth.
