Abstract

The industrial growth and the increasing demand for electricity pose significant challenges in this modern era. Humans have discovered various ways to produce and extract energy and utilize it as a source of electrical energy conversion. This research explores the potential utilization of sound pollution as a renewable energy source for electricity generation. Mining sites are one of the potential locations due to various mining points that generate sound vibrations. However, this potential has not been thoroughly studied in the field and maximized. The focus of this research is on the mining site of PT Bukit Asam Tbk Tanjung Enim, introducing a piezoelectric prototype to capture sound vibrations. The research methodology involves the design and implementation of the piezoelectric system, followed by data collection from four potential locations and the analysis of the electrical output at each. The research and data collection was conducted in Blasting, Rock Crushing, Drilling, and Road Compact Areas over a period of 12 days. The maximum power calculated was found in the Blasting Area at 1.75 ×10^(-3) W, while the minimum power was at the Road Compactor Area with 0.023 ×10^(-3) W. Sound intensity correlates with electrical power output from the piezoelectric prototype: higher intensity yields greater power, and vice versa.
