Abstract

The disposal of liquid waste from the production of jumputan cloth both directly into the environment and into the river without carrying out the processing process causes the aquatic ecosystem to be disturbed due to the heavy metal content in the liquid waste of jump cloth. Passive waste processing efforts can be done by phytoremediation. Mexican Sword Plant (Echinodorus palaefolius) has the potential to be used as an agent with the aim of research to determine the tolerance index and bioaccumulation of heavy metals Pb, and the phytoremediation ability of Mexican Sword Plant (Echinodorus palaefolius) in phytoremediation of liquid waste of encounter fabrics. The method used using a complete randomized design (RAL) at waste levels of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% observations consisted of metal bioaccumulation, phytoremediation ability, tolerance index, fresh weight and relative growth rate, and root color response. The results showed that the bioaccumulation of heavy metal Pb in the roots of Mexican Sword Plant (Echinodorus palaefolius) obtained a value of 0.0980 mg /kg t a waste level of 50%, while the accumulation of Pb metal in the leaves of Mexican Sword Plant (Echinodorus palaefolius) had a value of 0.0460 mg/kg, the tolerance index value for water jasmine (Echinodorus palaefolius) gets the highest value at a waste content of 25%, while the lowest value is at a waste content. The fresh weight of water jasmine decreased after the phytoremediation process with a relatively higher growth rate at a concentration of 25%, the Mexican Sword Plant (Echinodorus palaefolius) tolerance index value in each treatment obtained a value above 50%, which means that the Mexican Sword Plant (Echinodorus palaefolius) is not able to tolerate liquid waste from fabric. jumputan
