Abstract
Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) is one of the important cooking spices that cannot be replaced for people in Indonesia. The high demand for shallots in society is not accompanied by an increase supply of shallot production. This research was aimed to determine the effect of chicken manure addition at various doses on the growth and the production of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) cultivated using floating system in water tank. This research was carried out in Tanjung Pering Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Iir Regency, South Sumatra Province with coordinates 003o12'59" S and 104o38'16" E from May to August 2023. This research used randomized block design (RBD) with 1 treatment factor. The treatment was various doses of chicken manure consisting of 4 levels with 3 replications and 3 plants per unit resulting 36 plants in total. The dose of chicken manure used in this research was P0 = 0 tons/Ha (Control or without chicken manure), P1 = 10 tons/ha (40 g/pot), P2 = 20 tons/ha (80 g/pot), P3 = 30 tons/ha (120 g/pot). The results showed that chicken manure application gave significant effect in all parameters except the parameters of tillers number, chlorophyll content, leaf area, root length and bulb number. The application of 120 g of chicken manure/pot (P3) resulted in a better performance compared to other treatments.
