Abstract

Abstract The aims of the research are (1) to determine the use of demonstrative rhetoric in the short story collection Rectoverso by Dewi Lestari; (2) to find out the use of deliberative rhetoric in the short story collection Rectoverso by Dewi Lestari; (3) to find out the implications for Indonesian language learning. This type of research method is descriptive qualitative. The data source used in this research comes from the short story collection Rectoverso by Dewi Lestari published by PT Bentang Pustaka. The data inch consist of fragments of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that show rhetoric. The result of this research show that there are 62 data on the use types of rhetoric from 9 Rectoverso short stories. There are 24 types of demonstrative rhetoric. Of the 9 short stories, there are 2 short stories where the use of demonstrative rhetoric was not found, namely the short stories Peluk and Tidur. Furthermore, there is 38 data on deliberative rhetoric. Of the 9 short stories, there is 1 short stories where the use of deliberative rhetoric was not found, namely the short story Cecak di Dinding. This research has implications for Indonesian language learning for phase F SMA/SMK.MA class XII with results in the form of teaching modules and student worksheets.
