Abstract

“Ring” is a song by Hindia that describes the intense feelings of love between two people who love each other and the ups and downs of relationship. In this music video, there are several scenes that depict the meaning of love. This study aims to analyze the representation of the meaning of love by Robert Stenberg in the music video “Ring” by Hindia using Roland Barthes semiotic approach. This research employs a qualitative research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The analysis utilizes Roland Barthes’ Semiotics Theory as the main theory and then categorizes its findings into Robert Stenberg’s concepts of love. From this research, it is found that there are at least 12 scenes that illustrate the meaning of love according to Robert J. Stenberg’s concept. The combination of three components of the Love Triangle Theory will form Consummate Love. The data identified in this analysis can assist readers understand how feelings of love, madness and confusion in relationships are conveyed through the existing signs and how the meaning of love can be visualized through music videos.
