Abstract

Film is a work of art that is full of certain symbols and has a message contained ini. Film is an entertainment medion with various genres in it, expecially the actionor violence genres. This research uses the Political Econony of Media Theory byVincent Mosco which refers to his commodification theory. Commodification is theprocess of exchanng goods and services that were originally valued for their usevalue to become valuable commodities because can bring profits in the market. Thistheory is used to see violence as a commodity carried out by film media. The Methodused in this reseurch is a qualitative content analysis research method with adescriptive qualitative approach. Violence in films is packaged not only asentertamment, but as a commodiry by the media industry. The process ofcommodification by the media of violence in films is curried out by showing scenesThat are full of tension and excaement in order to attract the attention of theaudience. The results of this research show that the films John Wick 3 and JohnWick 4 commodify violent seenes as a trade c&, modity that is bought and sold onthe market for profit. Apart from the commodification of violent content, audienceand workers are also become commodities carried out by the films John Wick 3 andJohn Wick 4. Keywords: Film, Violence.
