Abstract
Tectonically, the study area is located in the Majalengka Sub Basin, part of the Bogor Basin, which was deposited in a deep-sea turbidite environment. The turbidite current mechanism during the formation of the Cinambo Formation resulted in the deposition of sandstones with distinctive characteristics. In the Cengal area, research related to diagenesis control on the evolution of porosity of Cinambo Formation sandstones has yet to be conducted comprehensively, so this study aims to determine areas that have potential as reservoirs based on porosity levels. This research was conducted using laboratory analysis methods in the form of petrographic analysis and studio analysis in the form of diagenesis analysis, map modeling, and porosity analysis. Laboratory analysis in the form of petrographic analysis of ten sandstone samples was conducted to obtain the type of sandstone based on the quartz, feldspar, and lithic minerals content. Studio analysis includes diagenesis analysis to determine the phase and process of diagenesis that occurs in the Cinambo Formation sandstones, making map models to represent the data that has been obtained in the field in the form of geological maps, track maps, and montage maps, and analysis of sandstone porosity to determine the percentage and quality of the porosity of the Cinambo Formation sandstones. The results of diagenesis analysis show that the sandstones of the Cinambo Formation experienced strong compaction, dissolution, and cementation by silica minerals and carbonate minerals, as well as authigenic phases in feldspar, quartz, and clay minerals. The stages of diagenesis that took place in the Cinambo Formation include eogenesis, then mesogenesis which occurred in five sandstone samples with temperatures ranging from 65 - 120ºC with a depth of 2 - 3.5 km below sea level, and telogenesis stages which occurred in five sandstone samples with temperatures of 160 - 220ºC with a depth of 6 km below sea level with maturity levels ranging from semi-mature to super mature. Porosity analysis of sandstones on thin incisions of rocks showed that sandstones in the Cinambo Formation have a particular classification between 28% and 45%. The well-sorted rock sorting factor causes the porosity results; there is a dissolution phase that increases the primary porosity with intergranular porosity type. The results of this study are expected to provide information that diagenetic control on sandstones of the Cinambo Formation affects the evolution of porosity as a reservoir in the Cengal and surrounding areas.
