Abstract
Watersheds are areas where rainfall falls and is collected by mountain ridges before flowing through smaller rivers and into the main river. Rainfall that falls directly on the ground separates into flow water, evaporation water, and infiltration water that eventually enters the river as stream discharge. Surface runoff can occur from excessive rainwater falling to the ground. Runoff can occur when soil that has reached infiltration capacity is unable to absorb excess rainwater. Insufficient rainwater storage can lead to river overflow and flooding. By using the rational method to calculate the peak discharge value and surface runoff coefficient, it is possible to identify flood-prone areas based on surface runoff. Cook's method is used to determine the value of surface runoff coefficient based on four factors: slope, soil infiltration, land cover, and surface water storage. In this study, the runoff coefficient was 0.77. In addition, rainfall also affects the peak discharge value. Rainfall data was obtained using SiBias and examined over a period of 5 and 10 years. Using the rainfall data and the runoff coefficient value, the rational method generates the estimated peak discharge. Using Hec-Ras application simulation, the surface runoff area was ascertained. Surface runoff areas are near residential areas at low elevations.
