Abstract
ANALYSIS OF RISK FACTORS ON MORTALITY OF COVID-19 PATIENTS WITH ACUTE RESPIRATORY DISTRESS SYNDROME (ARDS) IN THE ICU OF DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG ABSTRACT Andika Hami Imamunanda1, Zulkifli2, Rizal Zainal2, Ziske Maritska3 1Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Resident of Medical Faculty Sriwijaya University/RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang 2Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Departement of Medical Faculty Sriwijaya University/RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang 3Biomedical Department of Medical Faculty Sriwijaya University Background: Demographic factors (age and gender) and anthropometric factors (BMI) have an important role in mapping COVID-19 mortality which can increase medical personnel's attention to the prognosis of the development of COVID-19 in certain groups. On the other hand, SOFA as a scoring system that is often used to detect the mortality of patients undergoing treatment in the ICU has broad coverage in detecting multi-organ failure, but the SOFA score is slightly contradictory in detecting the mortality of COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment in the ICU because COVID-19’s patients may have only single organ failure rather than multiorgan failure. The large number of contradictory studies made researchers want to analyze the risk factors for COVID-19 patients with ARDS in the ICU at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method: This study used medical record data from patients who were confirmed to have COVID-19 with ARDS and were undergoing treatment in the ICU at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin during the period January 2021 to December 2021. The inclusion criteria for this study are a minimum age of 18 years, confirmed COVID-19 with the gold standard examination (PCR swab), and diagnosed with COVID-19 with ARDS according to the Berlin criteria. The exclusion criteria in this study were having an incomplete medical record, and having a history of respiratory diseases such as TB, lung tumors, COPD, and autoimmune disorders. Results: There is no significant relationship between age > 65 years, male gender, obesity - overweight BMI and mortality in COVID-19 patients with ARDS. In this study it was also found that a SOFA score > 4 had an accuracy value of 98.61%. Conclusion: Age > 65 years, male gender, BMI obesity - overweight is not a risk factor for mortality in COVID-19 patients with ARDS, but a SOFA score > 4 is a risk factor for mortality in COVID-19 patients with ARDS
