Abstract

Investment is an important activity in improving the quality of economic. Activities to attract foreign investment are carried out in order to improve the economy and build prosperity and social welfare. This study aims to determine the regional government’s strategy in increasing foreign investment in South Sumatera in 2019-2020. This is a qualitative descriptive study with interview and observation techniques using investment strategy theory according to Mudrajad Kuncoro. The unit of analysis in this study is the South Sumatera Provincial Government. The results of this study show that investment attraction strategy by South Sumatera is to accentuate investment potential through regional investment and infrastructure exhibitions (INFRADA). The South Sumatera government has succeeded in implementingan investment strategy by depicting high investment potential in the tourism and mining sectors, especiall coal and petroleum. This study is expected to be a reference for the government in improving and optimizing investment attraction strategies.
