Abstract

This research aims to determined the plant hopper, rice bugs, and other sucking insects of paddy ratoon in tidal land desa mulya sari, south sumatera. This research was conducted in rice production center in tidal land desa mulya sari, banyuasin district, of south sumatera. this research was conducted from march until july 2013. This research method used a survey method. The survey was conducted to locate and observed plant hopper, rice bugs, and other sucking insects include spiders predator abundance. The survey was conducted in rice production center on tidal land in south sumatera The results of this research are found 4 species of plant hoppers, 1 species of rice bugs, and 2 species sucking insects. Plant hoppers populations and sucking insect on paddy crops affected by age or growth stage. Observation in desa mulya sari known that the place or location of observation could affect the high and low percentage of infested stems or grain pests. The observation of two varieties of rice plants in tidal land, used pitfall trap and net found seven families of spiders are active predators in the crop canopy and the soil surface The conclusions of this research population sucking insects until on Ciherang more than Inpara. Sucked insect are near harvested and after harvested population at the time before the harvest is dominated by four species of pests, namely leaf hopper (Recilia dorcalis), plant hopper (Sogatella furcifera), brown sucking insect (Eysarcoris montivagus) and rice bugs (Leptocorisa acuta). After harvest the insect still dominates except leaf hopper (R. dorsalis). Population spider predators on the canopy and the soil surface tend to be found in Inpara varieties dominated by Salticidae family.
