Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi gerak dan gaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 98 orang peserta didik kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes berupa 10 soal pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa nilai keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya pada kategori rendah yang dapat dilihat dari pencapaian indikator memberikan penjelasan sederhana 57,09%, membangun keterampilan dasar 61,03%, menarik kesimpulan sebesar 60,82% , memberikan penjelasan lanjut sebesar 73,43% dan mengatur strategi dan taktik 59,52%. Secara keseluruhan nilai berpikir kritis peserta didik SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya adalah 62,37% yang mana nilai tersebut berada pada interval 43,75 < PS ≤ 62,50. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi gerak dan gaya masih tergolong rendah. Dengan demikian, diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPA.
